Air Conditioners: BUY

Both savings and selection will fall out of favor after 4th of July sales events. Stores like Walmart and Sears will portable and discount window units upwards of 25%. Procrastinating until July warms up can result in a purchase with less features and benefits for a similar or higher price.

Furniture: BUY

July is one of the best months to purchase furniture for the home. 4th sales kick-off clearance of last years living room and bedroom sets as furniture stores are reducing prices on existing inventory to make room for new models arriving in late August.

But where should they look for the biggest bang for their buck now that the huge November sales have past? Here’s a quick list of what and where to expect some of the biggest values in December.

  1. Cookware and Kitchen Gadgets: Shoppers can expect better prices and exclusive savings post-Thanksgiving on select cookware, dinnerware, glassware and small kitchen appliances. Holding out for the monthly Kohl’s discount that stacks with Kohl’s Cash, or shopping during Macy’s exclusive Sunday sales will be your best bet, including savings on home decor items.
  2. Toy Deals: Retailers were aggressive with toy deals in late November, but selection of special pricing was limited to the “gotta-have-it” toys. Overall toy prices will get better following Cyber Monday, but waiting too long may leave you empty handed, especially for 2016 video game deals that will be in demand as stocking stuffers that pair with those new video gaming console deals during Black Friday.
  3. Gift Cards: Dozens of stores offer discounts in late December and right before Christmas break, especially for restaurants, movie theaters and local entertainment venues. Check eBay deals as a great resource to scout for discounts on gift cards from retailers and gas stations, and look for discounts on iTunes gift cards with expectations of $100 in iTunes credit for $80.
  4. TVs and accessories: TV prices were exceptional during the Thanksgiving weekend, many prices were even better on Cyber Monday, signaling TVs were undersold. Expect 4K TV Deals to continue in December, especially 50-65” as well as 1080p TVs 60” or larger. Electronics stores that carry HDMI and A/V cables, streaming devices and other TV accessories will offer better discounting, too.
  5. Free Shipping Day and December Clearance: On Friday Dec. 16, Free Shipping Day will offer the best last minute savings opportunities, but beware any offer that looks too good to be true as some third party sites charge a fee to access their free shipping promises. After Christmas Clearance sales start up December 22 and acting quick is key as the best deals do not last more than a few hours.

Google Gets Pixel Heavy With New Hardware – In-Hand Pre-Black Friday

With Google Assistant leading the way, Google has just announced a host of new hardware devices (all made within Google own product development, not third party makers) in which Assistant will function as an “everywhere” AI for both smartphones and in the home. Here’s a quick rundown of Google new hardware arsenal, brought to you just in time for prime placement in every major Black Friday ad, which should start leaking out any day now (it is October, after all…sign up to get instantly notified when Black Friday ads leak).

google-pixel-5-inchGoogle gets Pixel Perfect, in more ways than one…

The new Pixel smartphone from Google was the headliner today, featuring a polished aluminum case with up to 7 hours of battery life with 15 minutes of charging. Pixel will support the Duo video calling service and has a camera that rivals the new iPhone 7. One great software feature is that updates download and install in the background. Initially available exclusively on Verizon, Pixel will also be available for sale unlocked (bookmark cell phone deals and accessories on FatWallet). Pixel pricing starts at $649 and is available for pre-order today in silver, black and blue with options for a 5-inch screen and 5.5-inch screen in either 32 GB and 128 GB (USB-C is supported).

daydream-vr-headset-googleThe new Pixel smartphone will support Google’s new VR platform called Daydream, a VR headset for designed for Pixel (and other smartphones) that is said to be more comfortable and breathable than other competing VR headsets. Daydream will stream from Google Play movies, photos, Street View and YouTube. Daydream also features a small controller (remote) with a touchpad and two buttons. Daydream headset with controller will be available in November starting at $79.

google-chromecast-ultra-black-fridayGoogle Chromecast Ultra was also introduced as their new flagship streaming media device. Chrome cast Ultra will support 4K, loads content 1.8x faster and comes with an ethernet connection.Available to purchase in November for $69 (some early 2016 Black Friday predictions may get altered to include the Chromecast Ultra as a $50 doorbuster).

Google Wi-Fi, a new system designed for improving in-home Wi-Fi (extending the Google Home ecosystem by connecting them with each other). Google Wi-Fi has companion software that lets you control other devices linked to the router and manage access for kids. Pre-orders start in November and ship in December for
$129 (single device) and $299 (3-pack).

google-home-assistantGoogle Home was on display as the new competition to Amazon Echo. Home utilizes Assistant to interact with user requests. LED lights blink while Home completes requests…a verbal “google” machine, if you will, that also plays music. Home works seamlessly with YouTube Music, Spotify, Pandora and other streaming music services (Apple music??, probably not). Google has partnered with Philips, Nest, Samsung SmartThings and even IFTTT to assure support with other smart home devices, of which can be controlled through Home. Google Home will be available available to buy on November 4 for $129 (includes YouTube Red free for six months)
