Valentines Day Spending Keeps Coming Up Roses [INFOGRAPHIC]

Americans shelled out nearly $19 billion in 2015 for Valentine’s gifts and celebrations. Traditionally, Valentine’s Day sales are led by flowers, chocolate and jewelry, but many folks spend money on a variety of other things, including their pets. The world consumes a whopping 7.2 million tons of chocolate each year (Statista), and a good portion of that is purchased in heart-shaped boxes. More recently, we’ve seen a market for smart tech as Valentine’s gifts, especially smartphones and wearables. If this trend continues, expect Valentine’s spending to easily exceed $20 billion in 2016. You can find deep savings for those on your shopping lists at FatWallet’s annual Valentine’s Deals.
